An open & democratic network
Noticeing is an open network - no need to sign up or login to join in - where the content shown on the network is controlled by the network's users.
You can vote down badly written or offensive Notices and Comments and vote up notices you like or agree with! Notices are voted off the network if their score goes below -5. Voting is verified so you can only vote once on each notice or comment.
Touch or click on the markers to open their displays. Pinch or splay the screen to pan in or out of the map. Touch or click the 'Message' dropdown below the display to send an enquiry or message to the poster.
Touch or click on the logo, top centre, to open the Search which highlights with a halo, Notices containing keywords or Notices put up by a person whose screen name you know. If the keyword is in the title the highlight is magenta, in the text green and if a name corresponds the highlight is yellow.
Search highlighting is a powerful new search method that enables you to find tradespeople or people with same interests in the area around you. Just type in a keyword; plumber, tennis, recycle and markers whose Notices contain the word are highlighted.
Immediatly below the search box touch "POST A NOTICE ON THE MAP" to post up your own Notice.
The Noticeing map presents a marketplace where tradespeople, shops. restaurants, artists can advertise what thy have on offer and local people can find people with common interests living nearby. There's a messaging dropdown at the bottom of each notice that you can use to send an enquiry to the poster.
NOTICEING search is asynchronous so you don't have to click an search button- just touch done on a mobile so that the keyboard doesn't hide the map. Different coloured halos highlight markers whose posts contain the word in the title or text or the name of the poster.
Lightening markers represent posts that have been put up using a phone whereas the compass represent posts put up using a computer with broadband access. Cell phone posts are wiped after 2 weeks, computer posts last a month and both are rendered 'fuzzy' so that they show the approximate, not the accurate location of the poster.
If you get stuck with sizes or scale or windows that don't close just click the reload button in the browser (at the top of the screen).
Navigation - The menu icon, top right, opens a ControlPanel where you can edit your Notices and reply to messages. The blue sphere to the left of it opens Map Controls where you can choose to show or hide your markers, select a different style of map or reload the map screen so that it is centred on your current location.
